Chuck Abolt
Freshwater Scientist
Chuck brings a broad array of skills in terrestrial hydrology, remote sensing, and machine learning to The Freshwater Trust. He specializes in using data from satellites and airplanes to improve process representation in hydrologic models. Before coming to The Freshwater Trust, Chuck was a postdoctoral fellow and then a staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where his research addressed various topics, including flood modeling, Arctic permafrost thaw, and remote sensing of forest structure. Chuck earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Geological Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. from Duke University. In his free time, he enjoys road trips, hiking, and collecting used books.
