Increase Water Quantity
What is The Freshwater Trust doing here?
The Freshwater Trust (TFT) is working with partners in Eastern and Central Oregon to examine how changes in irrigation delivery systems could keep more water instream and improve water quantity.
Using our patented technology and toolkits, our analytics teams are working with partners to run through different scenarios to prioritize and identify the most effective conservation actions in the region.
Our science and analytics teams are running cost-benefit analyses on such actions as:
- Piping irrigation canals to reduce water loss and seepage.
- Relocating irrigation diversions to better direct river flows for native fish migration.
- Making different irrigation system upgrades to reduce water usage and keep more water in rivers.
Why is this important?
In water conservation, there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution. Every community and water basin has different priorities, so it’s vital that we analyze the data, conduct research, and review options to find the most effective solutions for each region.
We turn this data into reports that help us draft funding proposals necessary to get water-saving projects off the ground. Even if we only provide reporting services to partners and clients, this work is essential to identify which projects will yield the most effective results and significantly benefit the environment.
How can you support these efforts?
One key way to support our efforts is through donations. TFT ensures that every dollar you give delivers measurable results that will make a difference.
You can also support us by subscribing to our newsletter and following or sharing our updates on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to help drive meaningful freshwater conservation.
