Improve Water Quality

What is The Freshwater Trust doing here?

The Freshwater Trust (TFT) helped the Idaho Power Company (IPC) improve the water quality and lower temperatures of the mid-Snake River. This massive watershed stewardship program was designed in response to the impact of the IPC’s hydropower dams along the river.

Using our advanced analytics, TFT designed a comprehensive stewardship program to improve river function and water quality. Some of the actions in this program included:

We also used our extensive experience in policy negotiation to bring the different stakeholders together to agree on effective solutions for the environment and the economy.

Why is this important?

Utility companies like IPC realize that the services they provide to the public can negatively impact the environment. To counteract this, many of these utility companies are willing to work with organizations like TFT to find smart solutions that reduce their impact.

By hiring us to provide analytical analyses and solution design services, IPC can ensure that by following the environmental actions set out in the program, they can do their part to reduce the impact of their hydropower dams.
