In the face of rapid farmland conversion, deepening droughts, rising costs, and more urban water pressure, irrigators need water management solutions that can relieve some of the pressure. We help our agricultural partners identify precision water solutions, secure more funding, and help convert conservation actions into new revenue opportunities—all while making sure that efforts improve watershed conditions.
The Freshwater Trust develops the analytical insights that farmers and water managers need to design, fund, and implement water delivery and on-farm irrigation modernization solutions. These solutions maximize operational flexibility and security in the face of drought and growing competition for water resources.
America’s farmers are key partners in conservation but accessing financial assistance to make water infrastructure improvements is currently too slow and complex. We make it easy. Through our subsidiary, Irrigation Incentives, LLC, we aggregate funding, offer simple and compelling financial assistance packages, provide no-cost technical assistance, and provide catalytic project financing. By simplifying this system and working directly with the existing agricultural services and equipment supply chain, we help deliver more funding to more projects, faster, while also ensuring that every dollar spent maximizes progress toward watershed-scale conservation goals.
Working lands can serve multiple uses beyond growing food and fiber. We work with farmers to develop innovative groundwater replenishment and flood risk mitigation projects that create water management flexibility and a new source of revenue. We also help farmers access reused water for irrigation, which can take pressure off overtaxed aquifers.
We design and pursue policy changes and financing mechanisms that remove barriers, streamline processes, and make it easier to secure the financial assistance needed to implement this work at speed and scale.
